Social networking
I have never used Facebook, My space etc. and still have very little idea of how they actually work, but I thought in a library environment they could be used to advertise upcoming activities in the libraries eg. author talks, storytelling sessions, special events. These sites would also allow people to make suggestions of activities that they would be interested in seeing or doing at the libraries.

I had a look at some of the Wikis that were listed, and I have to admit I found most of them really confusing. I did like the Book lovers Wiki - it was interesting to read the different book reviews.
In a library environment I think a closed model Wiki could be used to list new items that are available to borrow, and list events that are coming up at different branches of the libraries.

I'm continuing on to the second part of Licence2test drive which is Online Photo Sharing where we have to find a photo we like the look of on Flickr and put it in our blog.

I loved this one, I'm a bit of a sook for anything to do with animals. I just typed 'animals' into the search on Flickr and had a look through them all until this of the hand and the dog paw caught my eye.

Anyway, back to the holiday. After Alaska, I flew to New York for 10 days and had a fantastic time. It was incredibly busy, but there was so much to see and do. Spent a couple of days just walking around Central Park - it's enormous, and went to Central Park Zoo. Saw Mamma Mia on Broadway, went to the top of the Empire State Building, went on a harbour cruise, saw the Statue of Liberty, walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and basically all of the touristy things.

I did promise photos of my gorgeous puppy - Holly. She's a 6 year old Maltese and is spoilt rotten.

After 2 weeks on the bus tour there was a 7 day cruise to Alaska with stops at Ketchikan, Juneau & Skagway. In Juneau I went dog sledding, not on snow, but on a wheeled cart. Our view was very much like the one pictured. In Skagway went for a drive in a golf cart type of thing (called a Mule) and saw a wild bear which was fantastic.

After a week in San Francisco I flew to Vancouver and did a bus tour of the Rocky Mountains. The scenery was incredibly beautiful - one amazing view (like the one pictured) after another. Tho only bad thing was that I missed out on seeing a moose which I really would have loved to see.
